Smith Street Bastille Day Festival
July 13 @ 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
It’s a hot day in July, you’re decked out in red, white and blue, and you feel particularly patriotic… Non, ceci n’est pas Independence Day, it’s Bastille Day!
Smith Street hosts the city’s biggest celebration of France’s commemoration of the storming of the Bastille, which ushered in their storied democratic revolution. Join the surrounding neighborhood’s sizable French population and enjoy food and drink from the shops lining the beautiful street. Those with a competitive streak can even try their hands at the petanque (basically bocce with a fancy French name) tournament that draws participants from all over the world.
France did us a pretty big solid in the Revolutionary War, so it’s probably a good idea to thank them for making Independence Day possible. What better way than partying in the streets together?
