St. Patrick’s Day is approaching, and there are plenty of ways to channel the luck of the Irish, in Brooklyn, leading up to March 17 and beyond.
This year, the holiday falls on a Friday, giving more reason to get out and celebrate with a drink, and authentic eats.
Here’s a list of some St. Patrick’s Day activities that are sure to bring in the luck of the Irish!
Tuesday
A Weezy and Strong Rope Family Style Dinner– 7 – 9 PM
St. Patrick’s Day comes early at the Strong Rope Brewery. Join them for an Irish-influenced family-style meal and beer pairing that celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. [Chef Louise Leonard and Strop Rope head brewer Jason Sahler.] $75 gets you a 4-course meal plus beer pairing!

Friday
St. Patrick’s Day Bash –11 AM TO 2 PM
Teddy’s Bar & Grill is Williamsburg’s oldest, continually operating drinking establishment. For this classical drinking holiday, they will have Guinness flowing on tap, shots of Jameson abound, and green, frozen margaritas to celebrate the early start to spring! And, of course, the corned beef and cabbage will be ready for you, in addition to a plethora of other great food specials!

Considering a future trip to Ireland? Start with a smaller trip to the Brooklyn Public House. While the bar serves a modest, varied menu — featuring mussels, sirloin steak, and calamari alongside your basic bangers n’ mash, wings, and nachos — but in vibe and décor, it comes off much more like an authentic Irish pub. That’s partially owed to the fact that, like bars in Ireland, the draft beers at BPH are blended with nitrogen, which creates a heartier head. There’s an impressive tap list, including international rarities like La Chouffe and Weinenstephen, alongside an equally lengthy bottle selection, ranging from standard light beers to Down East Cider. The setup of the space features a long bar leading to a roomy back dining area. In the warmer months, outdoor tables provide a good view of Dekalb Avenue’s foot traffic.

Whiskey Wars Factory Tour– 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
In the 19th century, Marines were dispatched from the Navy Yard to crack down on illegal whiskey distilling in what became known as the WHISKEY WARS. Today, Kings County Distillery is proudly making moonshine, and more, on premises. Join BLDG 92 and Kings County Distillery on a tour (and tasting!) that explores whiskey scandals of the past and the resurgence of the industry today.
Tours last approximately 90 minutes, and start and end at BLDG 92.

Looking to head to Brooklyn’s south shore for the holiday? Coney Island Brewery has you covered! There won’t be green beer, but there will be Double Oak Bourbon Barrel Aged Apple Wheat! The brewery will be open from 12 to 8 PM, pumping Irish tunes and serving the best beer around.

Sunday
Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Sunday March 19th, 1 PM
Put on your green and march over to Park Slope for this annual family-friendly parade. The fun starts at Prospect Park West at 15th Street with a rededication ceremony for the heroes and victims of 9/11. Then, the parade goes down 15th Street and along 7th Avenue to Garfield Place, and along Prospect Park West back to 15th Street. Expect lots of live music, bagpipes and dancing.
