BKLYN DESIGNS is Brooklyn’s premier contemporary design event, showcasing a cross section of design, architecture, and art. Founded by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce in 2003, it was one of the first design fairs to shine a spotlight on the creative economy in Brooklyn. It serves as an incubator for emerging designers, as well as a platform for established brands producing a range of creative products across furniture, lighting, tableware, art, textiles and jewelry.
Demonstrating the collaborative spirit of design, the show features collective exhibits, pop-up lounges, installations, hands-on demos and a diverse conference program, in addition to an array of products, many of which have received Brooklyn-Made certification by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
The show will also include rotating food trucks and libations from some of Brooklyn’s beloved vendors, as well as family-friendly programming throughout the weekend.
Attendees include interior and product designers, architects, builders, developers, urban planners, educators, store buyers, industry influencers, and design-savvy consumers.
They all come together to celebrate the borough’s rich design heritage, iconic style and bustling creative community. With thousands of visitors over the course of the three-day show, BKLYN DESIGNS is a much-anticipated event and the official kick-off for the citywide NYCxDESIGN initiative.
This year BKLYN DESIGNS is taking place at the beautiful new Brooklyn Expo Center — the host sponsor — in Greenpoint.
This year, BKLYN DESIGNS has brought in over 50 participating brands. Some program highlights include the Dwell Home Tours & Pop Up Shop, the Architect Newspaper/American Institute of Architects NY New Practices Lounge, the Inhabitat Green Design Awards & Scavenger Hunt, the American Society of Interior Designers Best Of Awards, the International Furnishings and Design Association Selects Awards, the AphroChic Remix Lounges, and the Architecture & Design Film Festival Pop-Up Theater.
Check out talks and panel discussions on topics including interiors, architecture, product design, real estate, and branding, as well as films, cafes, bars and food trucks featuring local vendors. There will even be family-friendly programming on Mother’s Day.
Free bus loops will be running Saturday and Sunday taking consumers from BKLYN DESIGNS in Greenpoint to WantedDesign in Sunset Park and the Brooklyn Museum in Flatbush.
