History and beer at the Brooklyn Historical Society, July 10 at 6 p.m.

As part of its ongoing “Tales from the Vault!” series, the Brooklyn Historical Society will present “Boom, Bust, and Back: Maps of 20th Century Brooklyn.” The event, co-sponsored by Explore Brooklyn, will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 10, followed by a beer garden at 6:30.

In the presentation, BHS map cataloger Lisa Miller will trace the changes Brooklyn went through in the 20th century through its maps — how pre-war urbanization and industry, mid-century urban planning experiments, and a late-century renaissance in interest in preservation transformed the city street by street, decade by decade.

The event is free, but you will need to reserve your spot. RSVP here, and don’t forget to use the ExploreBK promotion code: ExploreBK710. Drink tickets for the beer garden are $5. We’ll see you there!
