Map Cataloger Lisa Miller traces 20th century Brooklyn through maps, showing Brooklyn’s urban experience as a borough of New York City. From continued urbanization and expansion of industry into the outer reaches of Brooklyn through the post-war period, to the plans for renewal that unmade so many of its neighborhoods, and finally to the recognition of Brooklyn’s architecture and history that is now the foundation of Brooklyn pride, BHS’ maps trace each chapter of this story.
After seeing some of our unique 20th century treasures, continue talking maps at our Beer Garden!
