Bedford-Stuyvesant, known as Bed-Stuy for short, boasts a tight-knit community who take pride in the neighborhood’s historic residential architecture. Below are some Bed-Stuy highlights…and don’t miss our dining in Bed-Stuy article for more options.

Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast is a quaint b&b that looks like it should be in small town U.S.A., but it’s located right in the heart of Bed-Stuy. Akwaaba offers four guest rooms, each differently decorated and with private bathrooms. There is a guest library, TV and game room, a garden, glassed-in sun porch, and a shaded courtyard. The owners serve up a Southern breakfast every morning, as well as afternoon tea and refreshments.

7 Arlington Place (GMAP)
7 Arlington Place is the famed Bed-Stuy townhouse where Spike Lee shot Crooklyn in 1994. The film takes place during the summer of 1974 and centers around a family interacting within the neighborhood. The theatrical release poster features the family all gathered on the brownstone stoop. But the neighborhood has dramatically changed since Spike Lee lived here: this Bed-Stuy brownstone last sold for $1.7 million.

The pastrami sandwich is considered a New York classic, and they do it just right at David’s Brisket House. The sandwiches, stuffed with either pastrami, brisket, or corned beef (best ordered on rye), are the real deal, and a real bargain compared to more famous pastrami joints. This is a nice casual lunch spot for your afternoon in Bed-Stuy.
