Downtown Brooklyn isn’t a huge neighborhood but it certainly packs a punch with its rapid development, bustling crowds and commercial and cultural districts. The neighborhood is the home of Brooklyn Borough Hall, one of Brooklyn’s oldest and most significant historic buildings. The Fulton Street Mall offers plenty of shopping options, with new residential towers and hotels rising along the side streets. But perhaps Downtown Brooklyn is best known for its cultural district: there’s the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Theater for a New Audience, the BRIC Arts Media House and the New York Transit Museum. Photo courtesy of Sean_Marshall via Flickr.
